How to Market Your Blog in 6 Easy Steps

Hello world, it's just me and my blog. Marketing yourself and your blog (or baby as I like to call her) can be a very daunting task. Working in the world of communications is so competitive that it is sometimes overwhelming to get your name out there. When I first started I had no idea what I was doing, and now here I am with over 4,000 readers a month!

1. Social Media

This should be where everything starts for you and your blog. Set up a business account on Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and even LinkedIn! They are all free to join and allow for you to connect with other bloggers and potential readers across the world.

2. Word of Mouth

This is a little harder than you may think. Telling your friends about your blog might be easy but having them spread the word isn't always something they'll be up for. Try talking about your blog when you're hanging out with them in a large group, or invite them to your special giveaways. This will make it easier for others to recognize your blog and become more interested.

3. Marketing Events and Expos

This past year I was invited as a blogger to attend the Gluten & Allergen Free Expo in Worcester! It was a wonderful experience that allowed me to interact with other bloggers and companies that I have had opportunities to work with. I even ordered business cards to ensure that they would remember who I was, what I did and my own specific style.

4. Business Cards

These are so important when you start marking yourself. I have been working on my blog for 2 years and just recently ordered my business cards. I made sure to include my name, blog web address, QR code, business phone number and a few social media links! All of this information as well as my design really made me stand out from the rest. I received so many compliments about the way they were designed and was able to leave a lasting impression.

5. Join an Online Community

This is what really helped me turn my hobby into a part-time business. I joined my very first blogging community 1 year ago and haven't looked back ever since. These girls became my mentors, my friends and my sisters. If it wasn't for their help and guidance I truly believe that my blog wouldn't be where it is today!
